Desgranaron su disco, temas como ‘Waiting’, ‘Leave Me’, ‘Looking To You’, ‘Hopeless Town’ o ‘Nowhere’.

Pero no se olvidaron de sus viejos temas y regresaron a su debut para traernos ‘Light’s Out (in Candlyland)’ y ascendieron a ‘Knock You Down’ para traernos el potente ‘Throne Of China’ y el festivalero ‘This Is My Life’.

ENGLISH VERSION

What a blast the night of the last Friday on We Rock of Madrid! From Sweden landed Dynazty to offer us their one and only date in our country. They repeated with the guys from Valencia Jolly Joker ─who warmed their stage on Valencia on their 2012’s tour─ and were supported for the first time by the local Strangers. The concert was organized for our mate Wildgirlsins (Nora Abad Varona), promoter of Rock Hunters, and was followed by a big party with giveaways and karaoke hosted by our mates of the web and radio Rock Angels.

After the soundcheck, the Meet & Greet, ─the winner, Elsa Loerscher, was chosen by La Estadea─, and the interview, the doors were opened, thirty minutes late which, unluckily, forced all the bands to shorten their set lists, because the playing times were fitted to the minute.

STRANGERS

Strangers opened the night and attacked the stage at nearly nine. They were introducing ‘Emotions‘, full of 80’s hard rock songs that reminded us of Foreigner or Journey. Óscar O’Brien takes now the leading role of Belén to do the vocals of the songs of guitarist Miguel Martín and keyboardist Carlos Jiménez. They unveiled their record, tracks like ‘Waiting’, ‘Leave Me’, ‘Looking To You’, ‘Hopeless Town’ or ‘Nowhere’. Ballads as ‘Forbidden Love’, one of the baits, that just ruled, but they also dedicated to us more energetic bridges that invited us to sing, like in ‘Road From Hell’. It was introducing this one when they confessed that they are in the middle of the making of their second album, that would be more melodic.

On ‘Take Me Away’, the single, the guitarist and the bassist couldn’t stand still, you could feel them enjoying on stage. They ended with ‘Night In Paradise’ and ‘Rocking You Tonight’. The last one brings to mind some fast H.E.A.T, ─even though it was written on 2007,as Martín told us back in the day─. Only thirty minutes, but very intense, with high quality songs, boosted by the wonderful acoustics of the venue.

JOLLY JOKER

Fast stage change and time for the band of Valencia Jolly Joker, that threw us all over their 80’s Glam sleaze. They are fronted by vocalist Lazy Lane who ─what the hell─ knows how to handle himself perfectly in front of an audience. They were introducing ‘Sex, Booze and Tattoos‘, and used as appetizers ‘Damage’, ‘She Starts’ and ‘Roussian Roulette’, they opened our mouths so widely for this appetizers that we couldn’t close it until the end of the meal. If the sound shone with Strangers, with Jolly Joker was brutal, the volumen was turned up! With a bottle of Jim Beam in one hand ─and sharing with the people in the first rows─ they kept on rocking with ‘Hey You’, advance of their next release.

They linked ‘Spit It Out’ with classics: few chords of ‘Fortunate Son’ by Creedence Clearwater Revival, with ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ of their mentors Guns N’ Roses –they dedicated it to our friend Conan”- and ‘Lick It Up’ by KISS, and they didn’t allow us to relax, they stuck the fiery single ‘Fuck It All’ with “combs” and “motherfuckers” included. Even though the set list was shortened, we could get enough: they gifted us with ‘Dressed to Kill’ and wrapped up with a cover of ‘Lit Up’ by Buckcherry, with not less than a bunch of female fans dancing on stage to the contagious music.

We remark the skills of Eddie and of Yannick on guitars, not forgetting Luke on the four strings and the edge of Kickstars on drums. They spoilt us with their dirty hard rock and their continuous feedback with the crowd. They proved us that a band with that much attitude and such a professionality can not be but recommended, as a duty of any journalist.

DYNAZTY

Time was running out and the lead band had to jump on stage. Dynazty are five Swedish guys around 26 years old, but age is not important when the skills as a band are extreme, and that’s their case. Four records in the market prove it so, and turning up the intensity, from the “smooth” hard rock of ‘Bring The Thunder‘ to the noticeable power metal of the recent ‘Renatus‘.

They aimed fire with their last work,’Run Amok’ and ‘Cross The Line’, and rounded it off with ‘Northern End’. But they didn’t neglect their previous songs and forwarded to their debut for ‘Light’s Out (in Candlyland)’ and went up to Knock You Down to bring us back the powerful ‘Throne Of China’ and the festival song ‘This Is My Life’.

The addictive ‘Love Junkie’ of ‘Sultans of Sin‘ introduced the drum solo of drummer Georg Egg Härnsten, who was still warm after being the replacement of Kicken of The Poodles in the festival Ripollet Rock, and was joined by the bassist, new on the line up but not less skilled. They came back with an all times selection, with the terrific ‘Sail Away’ and ‘Sultans Of Sin”, and encouraged to sing the bridge in this one.

Back to present, ‘Divine Comedy’ was followed by ‘Dawn Of Your Creation’, in which the beautiful voice of Nils Molin and the skills on the instruments of the rest showed us their greatness as musicians. We raised our hands to the rhythm of ‘Raise Your Hands’ ─an anthem to the rockstar style of life─ to end with ‘Incarnation’ and to seal with their single, ‘Starlight’.

A fast concert that didn’t last more than one hour, without verbal diarrhorrea not excentricities not to lose time and focus on the important thing, to play the most of their set list to the highest level. As the old proverb says, if short, twice as good. It’s a pity that there were no more than one hundred people however cheap the ticket price was for an international band.

ROCK ANGELS PARTY

After that the hassle was kept until 3 am with the classic Rock Angels party, where there giveaways of cds, t─shirts and records, given by The Fish Factory, Top Artist Promotion, the shop Leyenda Rock and the own artists, as Houston. Few anecdotes: the photographer of Dynazty ─and of bands as H.E.A.T, Houston and Crashdiet─ Gustaf Sandholm Andersson─who we interviewed back in the day─ and the singer of Jolly Joker went up the stage to choose the winners of the giveaways, and Dynazty joined some fans on the karaoke to sing classics from Whitesnake, Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Skid Row. Pure luxury for our ears.

As the climax, we can’t say bye without thanking the efforts and the work of organizing this kind of events, straight from the heart of some rock lovers as are Wildgirlsins and Carlos Destroyer and their team from Rock Angels. We encourage you to keep on working so that the flame of rock never fades and we can keep on enjoying shows like this.
