No es la primera vez que tenemos la ocasión de hablar con Velvet Insane y sus chicos, ahora, con motivo de su nuevo disco y mientras se preparan para su próximo tour por Japón, tuvimos ocasión de hablar con su Jesper y Jonas, ésto fue lo que nos contaron.
1. Hola Jesper! Han pasado ya dos años desde nuestra última entrevista, eso es un montón de tiempo… ¿Qué tal os ha ido en este tiempo? ¿Qué planes maléficos habéis llevado a cabo para conquistar el mundo?
Jesper: Hola, encantado de hablar contigo de nuevo en La Estadea. Han pasado mil cosas, ha sido difícil y hemos trabajo como negros para ponernos las pilas. Formé el nuevo grupo (Velvet Insane) y, como sabéis, hemos estado trabajando para sacar tres discos desde entonces, también hemos estado de gira, trabajando en proyectos e intereses únicos, todo para conseguir que el grupo consiga triunfar. Estos dos años han sido interesantes para mi, ya que conseguí hacer justo lo que quería. Tengo expectativas y estoy trabajando mucho, ha habido momentos jodidos muchas, un montón de emociones y tiempos difíciles, pero hago del dolor mi gasolina. Los planes son simples: trabajo duro, no rendirse nunca y conseguiremos lo que sea.
Jonas: Creo que ha sido genial ser parte de Velvet Insane durante estos dos años. Como Jesper dice, hemos trabajado muy duro, y aún lo hacemos, para conseguir lo que queremos; tocar, crear y entregar lo mejor de nuestra música en el escenario. Desde el principio, hemos sido solo tres miembros, yo he tocado la batería durante este tiempo. Más tarde, me di cuenta que me interesaba, y era divertido, crear música cantando, por lo que cambié la batería por ser vocalista.
Ha sido genial ser parte de Velvet Insane durante estos dos años (…) Hemos trabajado muy duro, y aún lo hacemos, para conseguir lo que queremos; tocar, crear y entregar lo mejor de nuestra música.
2. Con el primer Ep «Youth on Fire» estuvisteis de gira por países como Australia, donde los grupos de tu país no están muy acostumbrando a tocar. ¿Qué tiene este país de diferente, y qué tal os fue el tour por allí? ¿Cómo os recibió vuestro público?
Jesper: El tour por Australia fue genial, fue una experiencia cojonuda, tambien fue divertido, crecimos como banda y como personas. El publico fue la leche, recibimos buen rollo de ellos, esperamos volver y tocar de nuevo pronto.
Jonas: Fue bestial. Me encantó su tipo de vida y sus paisajes, algo que pudimos ver cuando viajamos de Sydney a Wollongong, por ejemplo.
3. «Youth of Fire» tuvo un gran feedback tanto en tu país como en Asia, donde tenéis una gran fanbase. ¿Porqué crees que vuestro album gusta especialemente en éstos países? ¿Estáis pensando hacer una incursión a gran escala por Japón, China o Tailandia?
Jesper: Creo que fue algo que simplemente pasó, porque la gente quiere algo más que solo metal, quiero decir, en todo el mundo solo se escucha música metal, el metal es la música principal junto con el house, pero la gente quiere auténtico rock n roll y nosotros se lo damos, eso, junto a una gran dosis de hard rock, hizo que el disco tuviera una especie de explosión que se notó en todo el mundo.
En ‘Break out of Eden’ encontrarás el lado ‘Velvet’ y el lado ‘Insane’ de Velvet Insane, donde el lado Velvet es un poco más suave, también hay una mayor inspiración en las letras y melodías.
4. El 5 de Junio se estrenó vuestro nuevo trabajo, un EP llamado «Break out of Eden», ¿qué vamos a encontrar en él? ¿Cuál es el cambio más importante con respecto a vuestro anterior disco?
Jesper: El mayor cambio es que somos más sabios, tenemos fe en nosotros mismos, somos más fuertes y creo que eso se capta en el album.
Jonas: Encontrarás el lado ‘Velvet’ y el lado ‘Insane’ de Velvet Insane, donde el lado Velvet es un poco más suave, también hay una mayor inspiración en las letras y melodías. En el tercer track: «Frame», puedes disfrutar de nuestro estilo más mundano y suave, más relajado que el loco estilo que solemos tener en «Do you want blood» o en «Break out of Eden».
5. Para este nuevo disco habéis grabado vuestro primer videoclip, ¿qué tal fue la experiencia?
Jesper: Hicimos el video nosotros mismos junto con el productor musical André Djurberg, en un pequeño estadio de hockey que esta a las afueras de Östersund. Fuimos allí, lo cambiamos todo y grabamos en el fin de semana, fue muy creativo y creo que ha quedado muy guay, con un poco de blues, un poco de punk, sucio y con estilo.
6. Poco a poco estáis consiguiendo vuestros sueños, ya tenéis dos discos en el mercado y estáis en la carretera, ¿cuál crees que será el siguiente paso? ¿cuál es tu máximo sueño en éstos momentos?
Jonas: El sueño es seguir creando música con estos tíos tan geniales en Velvet Insane y tocar para la gente que quiere escucharlo.
Jesper: Escribir nuevas y mejores canciones, continuar creciendo como músicos y como escritor de canciones, hacer lo que sabemos, solo seguir nuestros corazones y hacer que el sueño se haga realidad.
7. No podemos acabar esta entrevista sin hacéos la pregunta… ¿Para cuándo nos vistareis?
Jesper: No puedo deciros eso, tenemos que tener algunos secretos, pero os prometo que ocurrirá, quizás mañana, quizás en un año, solo el tiempo puede decirlo.
8. Si tenéis algo más que decir, hablad ahora o callad para siempre!!
Jonas: haz lo que siempre has querido. Sigue tus sueños y hazlo realidad. Si tu quieres algo solo hazlo. Si quieres ser un boxeador, hazlo. Si quieres ser artísta, hazlo. It’s not the first time that we have the chance to talk with Velvet Insane and his boys, now, on the occasion of his new album and as they prepare for their upcoming tour of Japan, we had occasion to speak with Jesper and Jonas, this is what they told us.
1. Jesper & jonas, Hello! It’s been two years since our last interview, that’s a lot of time… How was all this time? What were your malefic plans to conquer the world?
Jesper: Hello, Great to talk to you again at La Estadea magazine. It was a time with a lot of changes, very hard, a lot of work needed to get back in the saddle again. I formed a new band (Velvet Insane), and as you know we have worked our asses of and put out 3 records since then and toured a lot, worked with interesting and unique projects, just made everything to get this band on a way to stardom. These 2 years has been a very interesting time in my life where I found out exactly what I wanted to do. What im aiming for and why I work so hard, sure there been a lot of tears, a lot of emotions and hard times but my pain is my fuel! The plans are just simple, work hard, never give up and we will succeed no matter what!
Jonas: I think it’s been a great time being a part of Velvet Insane for these two years. As Jesper say, we have been working very hard and we’re still working hard for doing what we’ve always wanted; play, create and perform our music together. From the start, there were only 3 bandmembers, and I was playing the drums at that time. Later on, I found out that it was really interesting and fun using your voice when creating this kind of music, so I choosed vocals before drums.
2. With your first Ep, «Youth on Fire», you were touring on countries such as Australia, where bands from your country are not getting used to play. Why is so special this country, and how was your experience touring there? How were you received your crowd?
Jesper: The Australian tour was really amazing, it was a really good expereince, and it was also very fun, we grew as a band and also like human beings. The crowd were really good, we got a really good feedback from them, hope to come back and play very soon again.
Jonas: The Australian tour was an amazing journey. I really like their city life and their countryside, which we had the chance to experience when we travelled between Sydney and Wollongong for example.
3. «Youth of Fire» had a great feedback, both in your country and in other countries, especially in Asia, where you have a large fanbase. Why do you think your album liked specially in these countries? Are you thinking about making a largescale incursion by Japan, China or Thailand?
Jesper: I think the album just became quiet big because people want something else then just metal, i mean, all around the world it ́s just metal music, metal is the mainstream music together with house music, people wants true rock n roll music, and we give it to them, that together with so much hard work just made it happen for that record to kind of a have a small explosion around the world.
4. June 5, was released your new album, an EP called «Break out of Eden» what do we find there? What is the most important change from your previous album?
Jesper: The biggest change is that we are wiser, we have got faith in ourself, we feel a lot stronger and i think that you can hear on the album.
Jonas: You will find the Velvet side, and the Insane side of Velvet Insane, where the Velvet side is a bit softer and more soul inspiring when writing lyrics and melodies. The third track, «Frame», is where we you can enjoy our down to earth and soft style, and not our usually crazy style like in «Do You Want Blood» and «Break Out Of Eden».
5. For this new album you recorded your first video, how was the experience?
Jesper: We did the video by ourself together with music video producer André Djurberg in a hockey arena in a small town a few miles outside of Östersund, we did go in there, just change everything and recorded this video over a weekend, it was really creative and i think it looks great, bluesy, punky, dirty but with glam.
6. Slowly you are getting your dreams, you have two works on the market and you are on the road, what do you think will be the next step? What is your ultimate dream now?
Jonas: The dream is to continue creating music with these fantastic boys in Velvet Insane and perform it to the people who wants to hear it.
Jesper: Write new and better songs, continue to develop as a musician and as a songwriter, just do what we do know, just keep on follow our hearts and just make this dream come true.
7. We can not end this interview without say… When in Spain?
Jesper: I can’t tell you that, we gotta have some secrets, but i promise you it will happen, maybe tomorrow, maybe in a year, only the time will tell.
8. And now… If you have anything to say, speak now or be silent forever !!
Jonas: Do the things you’ve always wanted. Follow your dreams and make them come true. If you want something just do it. If you want to be a boxer, just do it! If you want to be an artist, just do it! The only thing that stands in the way of you and your dreams is your own mind, if you believe it, you WILL make it!
