Dynazty ‘Sultans of Sin’

ENGLISH VERSION

We warned you with the release of their second album –‘Knock You Down’-: keep an eye on these guys. And we didn’t make a mistake when thinking that their third release would be better. In the Swedish winter, lock up in a charmed house some tender elfs with tons of mead, a metal guitarist –Mike Láver– and a death metal producer –Peter Tägtgren– and you’ll get ‘Sultans Of Sin‘.

Vikings don’t stop waving their axe but for devouring the barbecued reindeer in a wild party and enjoying themselves with girls. Two are their ballads: ‘Falling‘, which for me it’s one of the weakest tracks –with the festival song Land Of Broken Dreams- because it sounds like already heard and ‘Back Again‘, written with Nicke Borg of Backyard Babies, which brings back that sensitivity that gave us gooseflesh in songs like ‘Far Away‘, but with the raw energy of ‘Hunger For Love‘.

The first blood that’s splashed comes from ‘Come Alive‘ in which singer Nils Molin reincarnates in Ronnie James Dio for pinpointing the powers of resurrection of the night. Because young gentleman Molin, cockier than ever, with the white snake loosened, must be feared. He hitches up his Viking skirt as a school girl from The Hustler, strut his stuff, and shows us his attributes: his banshee vocal skills and the breathtaking sexuality of an incubus.

The charms of the fifth member, the rhythm guitarist, Mike Láver, compares favorably, as he exports the lessons learned in DeVan and double the lout and metal dose.

They were looking for a sound change and the producer Peter Tägtgren got the idea: he boosts the rawness, keeps it simple and adds some sophistication, as the Egyptian effect on ‘More Than A Man‘ as its top.

Curious at least the pick of ‘Land Of Broken Dreams‘ and ‘Sultans of Sin‘ as singles, which forces them to kill with sword and knife, when they had lances like the essentials ‘Raise Your Hands‘, ‘Love Junkie‘, and ‘Bastards Of Rock’N’Roll‘ that allow the maximum hit from longer distances.

One of the top ten of 2012 that takes the risk of being overlooked if it’s not improved the promotion and the distribution. Because of that and because of a cover that hurts your eyes, in which they seem botticellis dragged to a brothel painted by El Bosco in an acid trip.
